============================================================================== 00REAME.1st (FarsiTeX Distribution) 26-Oct-1997 ============================================================================== FarsiTeX Distribution Guide WELCOME TO FarsiTeX! FarsiTeX is a typesetting system based on Donald Knuth's TeX. It accepts almost all commands of TeX and LaTeX version 2.09 in multi-lingual Persian/Latin modes and produces the device independent output, *.dvi, which can be processed by many available device drivers. FarsiTeX is a DOS-based system which uses Public TeX as its typesetting engine. Other utilities are taken from emTeX. (PubliC TeX Copyright (C) 1988,92 by the Toad and the Earthworm. emTeX is Copyright (C) by Eberhard Mattes.) This is the beta version of FarsiTeX. Although, it has been extensively used for many years prior to this release, we don't claim or guarantee that it is free of any bug. After receiving the bug reports, we will release its stable version. FarsiTeX system is described in: A Guide to FarsiTeX, by Mohammad Ghodsi and Roozbeh Pournader, Computer Engineering Department, Sharif University of Technology, 1997 (in Persian) The PostScript version of this manual is available with this release. However, the LaTeX2.09 book should be considered as the main reference manual for FarsiTeX (Leslie Lamport, LaTeX: A document Preparation System, Addison-Weseley, 1985.) So, if you are already familiar with LaTeX, you can easily start using FarsiTeX. FARSITEX HOME ============= The latest version of FarsiTeX is always made available on the Novell server of Computer Engineering Department, Sharif University of Technology. FarsiTeX users should regularly check this site and update their installations. FarsiTeX is also available on Internet on IPM ftp server (ftp://peik.nic.ir/pub/persian/farsitex) and on ftp://tehran.stanford.edu/Iran_Lib/TEX/FarsiTeX.
