Marrow Drive Check-List

Four Weeks Before the Event
- Contact American Red Cross or NMDP in your area and find out
the name of the Bone Marrow Coordinator. You can also get this information by
calling 1-800-MARROW2 and request the name and location of the nearest site.
- Inform the coordinator about your drive and setup a date for the Drive. From
our past experiences we have found the coordinators to be very helpful in
setting up the drive.
- Reserve a location for the drive. You can use college campus, High schools,
or any of the community centers in your area. Just make sure the location is
not too hard to reach. Most places will not charge you a fee if you explain the
nature of the event. The marrow coordinator could be a big help in finding and
reserving a location, since they have been involved in many such events.
- Make flyers, (English + Farsi) with the Drive information and a map of the
location.
Three Weeks Before the Event
- Photo Copy all the flyers and give it to all the helping parties for
distribution.
- Contact Persian Radio and TV stations and prepare for running ads.
Two Weeks Before the Event
- Flyier Distribution
- Persian grocery stores
- Persian restaurants
- Persian businesses
- Contact the local Iranian newspaper or TV /Radio station (if any), and
explain the situation. Try to advertise the Drive prior the event. From our
past experiences we have had an excellent turn out due to the TV ad
campaign.
One Week Before the Event
- Contact Marrow Coordinator via phone and make sure everything
is O.K.
- Double check on your room reservation, and make sure the room setup is going
to be the way you wanted to be. The marrow coordinator can tell you what kind
of room setup is best suited for this event. And finally make sure you have the
following items ready on the event day.
- TV and VCR for showing the introduction tape.
- Call the Iranian TV/Radio station and make sure they are going to air the Ad
several days before the event.
- Create a sign up list of who is going to be there at what time. Time slots of 3 hours each.
The Event Day
- Make sure that you have the following items before leaving your house:
Seats + Tables + partitions (if necessary)
Extension Cord
Pen/Pencil + paper + Masking Tape + Thumb nails (ponezz)
Poster Paper + Markers
Tea/Coffee setup equipment (Hot water + tea bag will do)
Tea + Coffee + Cookies + napkins + cups + sugar
Napking + tissues + paper towel
- Arrive at the location One hour prior to the start time. Make sure the room
setup is the way you wanted to be, and the required equipment's are present.
- Hook up the TV and the VCR and sure that the setup works properly. (play a
sample tape)
Put up all the signs + flyers.
