Re: our visit of catholic charities and the 'little bosnia'
Farshid jAn, Thanks very much for the visit reprot.
Just to give you an idea of how the refugees are doing today, here's an example. Avdo's family (5) gets $830 a months from Catholic center out of which he pays $750 for a 2 bedroom apt. They receive additional $200 worth of food stamp which is used *only* for food not covering household supplies, clothing, or stationary for the kids. Avdo himself has been shot in the head and although he seems well, still suffers from occasional seizures. His daughter, Adina 17, has undergone 2 spinal surgeries... Despite all this the family seems to be in good spirit!
Please do try to make an effort in visiting them. If you need an appointment to visit some families directly, we can put you in touch with a co-ordinator at site. Large donations like cars, furniture, etc.. need to be distributed evenly. Therefore, once there's a good chunck of it, you may take it to storage provided by Mr. Odabaee. The rest, can be handed directly.
